Editorial Process

Before we feature your work on our community site, we have a few steps to help ensure the quality of community content. Here’s the basic process:

Step 1: Fill out the Write with us form to show your interest and brief summary of your proposed article.

Step 2: Receipt of the proposal. Within about 48 business hours, our team will reach out to you via email to let you know that we received your request. We will also let you know if you are missing any information or if we have additional questions.

Step 3: Approval of proposal. Once your writing proposal is approved by our team (i.e. we have determined that the subject of your content is relevant to the community), we will reach out to you for additional details such as timelines and brief you on the next steps.

Step 4: Write and revise. Once your article is received, it will be reviewed and vetted by our team. Please anticipate working with one of our editors for at least one round of revisions. Once both parties (you and elearningdesigners.org) are happy with the work, we will set a publishing date. Before publishing, we will collect author bio information such as a thumbnail profile picture or one-line summary of the author.

Step 5: Publish! Congratulations your work is officially LIVE and open for comments on our elearningdesigners.org site!

Preparation of Articles

  • Length: 300-800 words
  • Guidelines:
    • For articles on case studies, we recommend that you follow the STAR format for writing:
      • Situation, challenges
      • Task = describe the problem
      • Action
      • Results/reflections
    • For articles on research and theory, we recommend that you include a short list of implications for ID practice in the article.
  • Use of graphics: We recommend appropriate use of graphics in your article to help readers understand the content and credit the creators of the graphics appropriately.
  • References: To appropriately cite and credit resources in your article, please follow the APA 7th citation style. To know more about APA style, please check out Purdue Online Writing Lab.

Authors’ Rights and Responsibilities

As the author of the article:

  1. You warrant that the content is originally created by you and/or your co-authors and no plagiarism is involved.
  2. You can post your article on your personal website with a citation that links back to your article on our elearningdesigners.org site one week after it is first published.

Disclosures

If you have a financial interest related to the subject of your article, we ask that you let us know via email. This will not necessarily affect the processing of your manuscript in any way but is part of the context necessary for making good editorial decisions.
